How to Maintain Blonde Highlights | Blonde Hair Tips Lutterworth

Hello lovely! If you’ve recently gone lighter, or you're maintaining blonde highlights, you know how important it is to keep your colour looking clean, soft and bright.

Here at Jayne Elliott Hair Company in Lutterworth, we work with so many clients who want beautiful blondes that last. My top tips?
- Use the right shampoo: A sulphate-free shampoo is gentler on coloured hair. For blondes, a purple shampoo once every couple of weeks helps with brassiness.
- Hydrate weekly: Blonde hair can dry out easily. A weekly deep-conditioning treatment will keep it soft and healthy.
- Book in for regular toners: These quick appointments refresh your colour and keep that salon-fresh glow.
- Heat protect always: Use a heat protectant spray before styling to prevent breakage and fading.
- Don’t over-wash: Washing your hair too often can strip your colour. Try dry shampoo between washes.
One thing we remind all our blonde clients is that blonde is beautiful—but it needs looking after. If you’re out in the sun or swim regularly, you’ll want to protect your colour from UV and chlorine. We recommend a leave-in treatment with UV protection, especially during summer or holidays abroad.
In-salon glossing or bonding treatments can also make a huge difference in how your blonde looks and feels. They help strengthen hair that’s been lightened, reduce breakage, and restore shine.
It’s also worth chatting to us about your maintenance routine. Not everyone needs a full head every visit. Scattered foils, face-framing highlights, or a toner and trim can be a great in-between option to stretch out time between bigger appointments—while still looking fresh.
