What to Expect During Your Appointment

Your stylist will start with a short consultation to check your hair's history and condition and agree on the right shade before mixing and applying the tint.

• Tint applied section by section from roots through to ends
• Processing time to allow the colour to develop fully
• Rinse, shampoo and conditioning finish
• Blow-dry or style to complete the look

Long or thick hair needs more product and careful sectioning to keep colour saturation even throughout, which is reflected in the price and time for this service.

Is a Full Head Tint Right for You?

A full head tint gives a solid, single shade rather than the multi-tonal effect of highlights or balayage, so it suits clients who want:

• Full grey coverage
• A richer or deeper version of their natural colour
• A refresh for faded or dull colour
• A uniform, polished finish rather than dimension or contrast

If you're after a lighter overall look, be aware that going significantly lighter from dark hair usually needs pre-lightening rather than tint alone, so it's worth discussing this with your stylist first.

Patch Testing and Preparation

Because this is an on-scalp tint service, a patch test is generally required at least 24 to 48 hours before your appointment for both new and returning colour clients. This helps check for any sensitivity before the full application. Our senior stylists, including Lisa Reeve and Donna Brookes, along with stylist Kasie Pearce, can advise on timing this ahead of your booking.

Aftercare and Maintenance

Simple aftercare helps your colour stay vibrant for longer between visits.

• Avoid washing hair for the first 48 hours after tinting
• Use sulphate-free or low-sulphate, colour-safe shampoo and conditioner
• Wash with cool to lukewarm water, ideally 2 to 3 times a week
• Use heat protectant and keep styling tools on lower temperatures
• Protect hair from sun, chlorine and salt water with hats, sprays or a conditioner barrier

Most clients find their colour looks its best for around 4 to 6 weeks, with maintenance appointments every 4 to 8 weeks recommended to manage regrowth and keep tone even.
