Full Head Foils – Long Hair
Full head foils for long hair cover every area of the head, nape, crown, sides and hairline, rather than just the top layers, giving a fuller and more dramatic lift in colour. It suits anyone wanting an all-over brightening or blending effect, whether that's a soft sun-kissed look or a bolder, high-impact blonde, and works well for long hair thanks to the extra time and foils needed to cover the length thoroughly.

What to Expect During Your Appointment
At our Lutterworth salon, your stylist will begin with a consultation to assess your natural colour, colour history and hair condition before planning foil placement.
- Sectioning and fine weaving of strands throughout the whole head
- Lightener or colour applied in foils, processed to your target level
- Rinsing, followed by a toner to refine warmth or coolness
- Conditioning treatment and finishing style
Donna Brookes and Kasie Pearce both work with clients on full head foils, tailoring density and placement to suit long hair and its condition.
Full Head Foils vs Other Highlighting Options
Full head foils give more defined, high-contrast highlights than balayage, with a clearer regrowth line as hair grows out.
- Full head foils: maximum brightness and coverage, best for a strong overall change
- Balayage or partial foils: softer, lower-maintenance, suited to those who prefer subtler regrowth
- Long, thick hair may need extra time for a large number of foils compared with shorter styles
Clients with previously coloured or fragile hair may be advised on a more gradual lift, with bond-building treatments used to protect condition.
Aftercare and Maintenance
Looking after foiled hair helps the colour stay vibrant and the hair stay healthy between visits.
- Wait 24 to 48 hours before shampooing to let colour settle
- Use sulfate-free, colour-safe shampoo and conditioner, washing no more than 2 to 3 times a week
- Deep condition weekly and use a heat protectant when styling
- Purple or blue shampoo occasionally helps keep blonde tones fresh
- Book maintenance visits every 6 to 8 weeks to refresh regrowth and tone

Always a great experience. The colour and cut are always spot on. I especially love the organic colours this salon uses — I’m allergic to conventional dyes and can only use organic, so it’s a perfect fit. The atmosphere in the salon is always warm, welcoming, and friendly.
